Evaluation Grants

A diagnosis you cannot afford is a door that stays shut. We pay for the assessment that opens it.

How it works

Many families cannot pursue school-based intervention because they lack the formal evaluation required to document a learning disability. We fund comprehensive psychoeducational and reading assessments through licensed diagnosticians and clinics.

That documentation is what enables IEP eligibility, Section 504 accommodations, and informed planning about which intervention a child actually needs. Early identification changes outcomes, and cost should not decide which children are identified in time.

The bureaucratic wall

Missouri law requires K–3 screening for reading difficulties, but identification does not guarantee intervention. Families report lengthy evaluation waitlists, limited communication from school staff, and little clarity about their rights under IDEA and Section 504. An independent evaluation is often the fastest route to a decision — and the one most families cannot fund.

After the evaluation

An assessment on its own changes nothing. Where results indicate dyslexia or a related difficulty, we move directly to funding intervention — tutoring or a small group placement — so the pathway does not stall at the diagnosis.
