A literacy charity has no excuse for an unreadable website.

Typefaces

Body text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, drawn by the Braille Institute to maximise distinction between similar characters. Headings are set in Lexend, designed to reduce visual stress and support reading proficiency. For an organisation funding reading intervention these are functional choices, not decorative ones.

Contrast

All text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio required at Level AA. Body text on our paper ground exceeds 16:1.

Setting

Generous line spacing. Text is left-aligned, never justified, because justification creates uneven word spacing that impedes tracking. Words are never hyphenated across lines.

Interaction

Links in body text are underlined rather than distinguished by colour alone. Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard with a visible focus indicator. A skip link is the first focusable element on each page. Motion is suppressed for visitors who request reduced motion.
